that was the set up of the DO! Innovation Bootcamp, powered by Stad Gent & De Groote – De Man Advocatenkantoor from 18 till 20 February in The Foundry.

In multidisciplinairy teams, the selected students & researchers tackled a legal tech or sustainable challenge. They were guided throughout the process by coaches, sector experts & various partners. After an intense innovative weekend in which they combined forces, an expert jury awarded the following teams:

The 3rd Ghent University ‘Legal Techathon’ was won by ‘????? ??’:
a smart insurance platform that keeps track of your insurances for you: in depth explanations, signals overcoverage, suggests alternative insurance plans, advises when to use your insurance(s).

Team: Thomas Xanthakis (Master of Science in Computer Science Engineering), Joy Gao (Master of Laws in Laws), Tibo Van Deuren (Master of Science in Computer Science Engineering) & Hannah Maton (Master of Laws in Laws)

‘Sustainable Solutions’ was won by ‘???????????’:
a solution that fights food waste at home in the form of a device and app: easy inventory updates, estimates expiration dates and suggests smart recommended recipes to use what is left in your fridge.

Team: Lisa Antonissen (Master Data Analytics), Maximiliaan Leyman (Master of Science in Computer Science Engineering), Ifeoluwapo Babalola (Master of Science in Environmental Technology and Engineering) & Muslikhiddin Narzullaev (Master Soil Biogeochemistry and Global Change)

Honourable Mention (Sustainable Solutions) for ‘???? ?????’:
an affordable upcycling business that transforms and pimps 2nd hand clothing in more fashionable versions of themselves. (Pieces of) clothes that are not used are recycled as well so that no clothes go to waste.

Team: Anilla Khan (Master of Science in Industrial Sciences: Biochemistry), Dries Dumortier (Bachelor of Science in Economics), Inge Van Impe (Postgraduate Programme in Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Engineering), Jietse Goes & Joey Pleune.

All winning teams receive a ticket to the pitching round of ?????????? ??! ‘Cover Me’ was also generously offered a starting capital of 2.500 euros by ?? ??????-?? ???. ‘Fridgeboard’ was awarded through sustainable & local initiatives.
