Expedition DO! 2024 sets sail

The moment is finally here, Expedition DO! 2024 is setting sail.

No less than 20 teams of talented students and researchers were selected to board the 6th edition of Ghent University’s startup programme. These are the teams that convinced the selection jury:

    offers an innovative packaging technology to prevent food loss.

    offers a data-driven marketplace for cars, facilitating price and supply comparisons across borders.

 

  • BIKE D-TEC
    tackles the upcoming bicycle overflow in cities by specialising in bike rack monitoring.

 

  • CEO FITFORMATION
    empowers workaholics aged 23-49 to master their health goals and become the CEO of their OWN bodies through easy-to-use health tools and data-driven personalised online coaching.

 

  • CLUBCUBBY
    is an innovative mobile app based locker rental company.

 

  • DESOR
    is dedicated to propelling small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises towards their long-term goals through the use of innovative simulation and optimisation technologies.

 

  • ENTREPRISE CARE
    wants to empower corporations to prioritise employee well-being through on-site therapy, enhancing workplace health whilst providing substantial benefits for the enterprise.

 

  • FFLOWS
    is building the world’s smallest light switch.

 

  • JUSTSAYINNOVATE
    aims to innovate in the BMX and cycling world, with its first product being an adjustable brake lever that makes a significant difference in safety, cycling enjoyment, and maintenance ease, especially for children and their parents.

 

  • MARYAPORR
    is planning a large-scale production and use of insect based complementary instant porridges for children in Western Kenya.

 

  • MIDECO
    mitigates deep soil compaction.

 

  • MUROF
    transforms education with personalised, dynamic learning paths drawn from a vast web of educational resources, empowering both student and teacher.

 

  • OMARM
    wants to build a platform that makes people’s last resting places shine with love.

 

  • ORTHOMETRIX
    empowers clinicians with AI-based musculoskeletal imaging reports, allowing them to prioritise patient care.

 

  • PRINT3R
    already is Europe’s most automated on-demand 3D printing & laser cutting business, reinvesting profits in future technologies and education.

 

  • SMARTPARK
    is revolutionising urban mobility with real-time parking data, ensuring you always find a parking spot, no matter where you go.

 

  • SP MATCH
    empowers innovation in manufacturing networks with a platform that helps companies explore alternative partnership matching.

 

  • TREATMENT RATE
    wants to improve communication between patients and healthcare providers, saving time and improving the quality of care by making use of an AI chatbot system.

 

  • VISABITE
    makes the brushing of teeth more accesible and visible to caregivers.

 

The Welcome Event on 14 March was the official kickoff for the 7 month track of Expedition DO! 2024. The selected teams will receive intensive guidance to boost their business ideas into an actual startup. The participating teams get the chance to win the student or researcher prize. Both winners receive 5.000 euros of startup capital.
