Ready to tackle today’s challenges to help build the future of tomorrow?

Then join the DO! Innovation Bootcamp from Friday afternoon 3 March until Sunday at noon on 5 March 2023. Expect to be immersed in the world of innovation and entrepreneurship. As part of a team and in an inspirational setting, you tackle a challenge from society. We aim form teams with students / researchers from divers educational backgrounds. As a result, all participants learn a lot from each other and the best results are guaranteed.

Topics

During the DO! Innovation Bootcamp we’ll focus on 3 topics:

  • legal tech:
The 4th Ghent University Legal Techathon brings innovation and law together in an innovative way. Law students join forces with IT students and students from other backgrounds to tackle legal challenges with a technological solution.
  • mobility:
In the future years we will face various mobility challenges. Mighty Mobility brings students and/or researchers from diverse backgrounds together to come up with all-round solutions.
  • health:
Choose for Heart for Health if your multidisciplinairy team wants to improve the sector by tackling a health related challenge.

We will select 3 challenges per topic to work from.

Course of the weekend

As a team you chose to use the 36 hours to find a solution however you see fit. Do you want to continue into the later hours of the night or rather go home early to recharge your batteries? The choice is yours. The focus is not on finding detailed solutions to difficult questions but rather to think outside the box and experience the value of working with people from different disciplines. In other words: motivation and an appetite for teamwork are key to a succesful bootcamp. Since you focus intensively on 1 challenge during a short period of time, you will come up with results you wouldn’t have dared to dream of. Your innovative solution might well shape the society of the future.

Experienced innovation specialists, coaches and topic experts will be ready to support you throughout the weekend. So in addition, the DO! Innovation Bootcamp provides the possibility to make interesting connections and gain insight in future opportunities.

Who can apply & team composition?

Ideally you register as a team (each team member needs to apply individually but you’ll get the chance to let us know who your team mates are in the application form). If you haven’t found your partners in crime yet: don’t worry, you can also register as an individual. We’ll help you find your team members at the start of the Innovation Bootcamp.

You already can’t wait to meet other interested students and researchers? During the Info Session you’ll be able to meet kindred spirts. Or you can just join our DO! Discord Community (in the channel ‘innovation-btcamp-teambuilding’).

At least 1 team member should be from Ghent University (student or researcher), the other team members can also be non-Ghent University students or researchers.

A team needs to consist of at least 3 and at most 5 team members. For the Legal Techathon a team needs to consist of at least 1 law student and 1 IT student on top of that. For Mighty Mobility and Heart for Health team members should have at least 2 different faculties or field of study backgrounds.

We work with an application process for the DO! Innovation Bootcamp. After you have applied, you still need to be selected before you can take part in the event.

There is no need for any prior knowledge to join the bootcamp so don’t hesitate and just apply.

Prizes

As the cherry on top, an entrepreneurial jury awards a Ghent prize per theme for the value of € 100,00 (per winning team). The winning teams will also gain access to the pitch round of Expedition DO!, Ghent University’s acclaimed Startup Programme. This way – and if they are interested – the winning teams can choose to develop their idea into a successful startup.

Conditions & practicalities

Everything you need, will be provided: drinks, food, leisure opportunities, fun breaks. You name it!

The event will take place in English. You’re part of a Dutch speaking team? Then communication within your team can still be in Dutch of course.

The team members of all selected teams are expected to be present during the entire weekend and at least during these time slots:

  • Friday 3 March from 3 PM till 9 PM
  • Saturday 4 March from 8 AM till 9 PM
  • Sunday 5 March from 8 AM till 2 PM

The concept of an ‘Innovation Bootcamp’ is still a bit fuzzy to you? Let us tell you all about it.

Still have questions? Be sure to join the info session on 14 February.
